Daniel Gorrie’s advertisement in the Minden Echo of June 17, 1892. The Minden Echo was the Haliburton County Echo’s predecessor. Daniel Gorrie’s store at the time of the advertisement was located where the Bargain Shop is recently situated, at 186 Highland Street. Although not an Orangeman himself, Mr. Gorrie understood the local market of the day and strived to accommodate the requirements of his clientele.
